In Ziwei Doushu (ZWDS), there are two known star groups, namely the Northern Star (北斗星) and the Southern Star (南斗星). The Northern Star group is led by the Ziwei star, while the Southern Star group is led by the Tian Fu star. In addition to these two star groups, there is also a concept called the central position (中天), which includes the Tai Yang star (太阳星) and the Tai Yin star (太阴星).
In Taoism belief, there is a theory that states the Northern Star governs the length of a person’s life, while the Southern Star influences their prosperity and happiness. This is why in Ziwei Doushu, there is a theory that stars from the Northern group affect illnesses or incidents, whereas stars from the Southern group influence the level of enjoyment and quality of life.
In the practice of Ziwei Doushu, one can read a person’s traits based on the characteristics of stars in their Self sector. Additionally, one can assess a person’s health conditions based on the stars present in their Health sector. Most of the star characteristics described above primarily relate to personality traits, so their interpretation is more useful when analyzing specific life sectors such as Self, Siblings, Spouse, Children, Friends, and Parents. It’s important to note that these traits may not apply to all individuals within a particular sector, for example, if there are multiple children in the chart, not all of them will have the same traits.
In San He Ziwei Doushu theory, the Northern group influences the first five years or first six months (decade/year analysis), while the Southern group influences the next five years or second six months (decade/year analysis)
